'Services' Help

The website allows you to search for services in a couple of different ways.

• From the Home Page, click on Services.
  
  
• Underneath the word Search, click in the empty box, and then enter any topic that you’d like to search. Once you enter the word or words, click ‘Search’ or simply press enter. Examples of search topics include things like transportation and housing.
  
  
• To view your results simply click on the agency’s name, which will appear in blue and be underlined. This will allow you to review specific information about each agency.
  
  
• Another way to conduct a search is to scroll down the page to the Optional Search Parameters section. These were designed to allow you greater flexibility while searching. There are a few different ways in which searches can be done using the optional search parameters.
  
  
• First, within the box marked Service Categories you can select a category that you’d like to search, (i.e. transportation, or housing). Once you select a category, either press enter or click on the ‘Search’ box which appears above the Optional Search Parameters. Your search results will then appear.
  
  
• You can also search for resources in another state by using the Select your State: box. Simply select the state of your choice and either click on search or press enter.
  
  
• Using the Enter your Zip code: field; the Distance in miles [optional] field, and the county Location: field, allows you to search for resources within a specified range.
  
  
• Please note that if you do not use the optional search parameters the system will automatically search the four counties of the Capital Region – Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady.
  
  
• A final way to search for resources involves accessing the alphabetical listing of services. This is convenient if you know the name of a provider. To access the alphabetical listing of services go to the home page, and using the tool bar menu on the far left, which appears in light green, click on Services. Then, click on Directory of Organizations and the alphabetic list will appear.
