'Forum' Help
What You See (page 1)
General Topic Areas in bold print help organize the posts (or notes) people write according to the subject they are about. Columns tell you how many posts have been written and give you information about the most recent note.
There may be one or more related topics under the General Topics.
Any user of ElderNetworkNY.org can read notes posted here.
The next box you see gives you Information about how many people are currently signed on to use the FORUM. If they are people who have an account with ElderNetworkNY.org and are signed on, their screen names will appear.
Active Discussions can help you quickly locate new posts by clicking on titles that are interesting to you.
The icons or pictures at the bottom of the page simply explain the meaning of icons you will see throughout the FORUM.
Reading and Writing
When you click on a topic that interests you, you will see a page with more topics and notes from users. Everyone can read what’s written here. The screen name of the person who writes an entry will appear with their comments.
You must be signed on using your free account’s password to write comments or answer other users’ notes in the FORUM. (Simply click “sign in” in the upper right hand corner.)
What You See (page 2)
Like on the first page, the upper box describes posts you can read and respond to. The icons on the bottom are simply there to explain the symbols. At the lower right is a reminder of the kinds of things you can do.
If you click a Topic, you will see the ongoing discussion and, if you choose, take part in it.
If you click the name of the Topic starter you will see whatever information that person has chosen to share as part of their individual profile. You can also choose what you want other FORUM users to know about you. When you are logged in, you can display a list of all the forum members. IF YOU CHOOSE TO SEND A MESSAGE OR EMAIL TO ANOTHER FORUM MEMBER, you should be aware that your e-mail address will appear on that message as the sender. If you don’t want to share your address, you should not e-mail other members.
Finally, whichever page you choose to view, there is a “trail” of the titles of pages you’ve used at the top of the page (just under the welcome) to help you navigate in the FORUM.
