Savvy Caregiver Program

Build skill and knowledge to care for people with dementia

This free, 6 week program gives family caregivers key skills and knowledge to care for someone with dementia. Learn about: defining your role as caregiver, managing behavior issues, providing structure and support, resources available, how to care for yourself and more.

Reminiscence for Seniors: Reclaiming Our Body's Voice and Spirit

Fifty is today's Thirty!

eba Center for Dance and Fitness offers a  healthy lifestyles program for the young at heart ...who are 50ish and over and have no intention of settling passively into old age. Tuesday from April 29-June 26 noon-1:30 p.m. at eba Theater, corner of Lark St. & Hudson Avenue, Albany, NY. (Parking available)  Participants swing, sway, stretch, breathe,dance, create stories and movement based on personal experiences, myths, life passages and more. Professional eba artists lead, teach, and guide each class. Reminiscence/Reclaiming Our Body's Voice and Spirit is for everyBODY age 50 and over- no experience needed.

Computer Classes at Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library

Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library announces Computer Class Registration for May and July, 2008

Ongoing registration for May and July 2008 Computer Classes begins Friday, April 18th and continues until classes are filled and/or begin.    [Note: NO classes will be held in June.]

All adults over age 18 may register in person at the Welcome Desk whenever the Library is open or by phone at 371-8622.  Classes begin May 1st.  Please limit sign-ups to 5 classes per student and call the Library if you cannot attend a class as there is often a wait list.

Come learn about Validation Therapy and Therapeutic Fibbing, response techniques you can use at home to keep loved ones calm and resolve situations positively.  It's not "abracadabra", but it's practical and it really works!

Silent Film Classic and The Mighty Wurlitzer

Harold Lloyd's "Safety Last"

A nostalgic trip back to the silent screen era as world-class organist Don Thompson accompanies Harold Lloyd's brilliant 1923 comedy "Safety Last" on Procotors Theater's restored Wurlitzer organ on May 27.  Screenings will be at 2:15, 4:45 and 7:30 p.m at 432 State Street in Schenectady, New York.

National Senior Health and Fitness Day

National Senior Health and Fitness Day will be observed on May 28th from 9:30 am to 1:30m at the Louise Corning Center, 25 Delaware Ave. in Albany, NY. This event is presented by Senior Services of Albany.

There will be free vision and hearing screenings, information fair, chair massage, pickleball and cooking demonstration and more. A healhty lunch will be served at noon (suggested contribution of $2.50).  Call 518-465-3325 to register.

3rd Annual Senior Idol Dinner Theatre

The Area's Only "Over 60" talent show

Senior Services of Albany presents the 3rd Annual Senior Idol Dinner Theatre. Enjoy18 fabulous acts including dancing, singing, comedy, drama and more on Wed., June 18th at the Louise Corning Center, 25 Delaware Ave. in Albany.

Disability Awareness Access Festival

FREE fun, outdoor activities for everyone!

 A variety of community groups have joined to bring you this festival of disability services, information and displays on June 27 from 12-7 p.m. at Schenectady Central Park Pavilion. The event will take place rain or shine.  Flame! will perform at the Music Haven. Adaptive/Inclusive Sports and Recreation will be demonstrated. Vehicle and equipment demonstrations will include head & hand controlled adapted vehicles, hand-cycle and golf cart, MOBILITY Works vehicles and Flame's tour bus.
Get your National & State Parks Access Pass, City of Schenectady Park ID & free photo ID.
CDTA will provide FREE transportation for STAR customers.
